Care Guide

Simple, material‑specific guidance to keep your LuxeNest pieces beautiful for decades. Because honest materials deserve honest care.

Every LuxeNest piece arrives with a dedicated care card. Below you'll find our master guide for the pure materials we work with most. As a rule of thumb: less is more. Avoid harsh chemicals, direct sunlight, and abrasive cloths.

Solid Wood & Oak

Our wood pieces — sofas, tables, consoles — are finished with natural oils or hard wax that protect without trapping moisture. Solid timber responds to its environment: small hairline cracks or subtle movement are part of its living nature.

  • Dust weekly with a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
  • Wipe spills immediately with a damp (not wet) cloth; dry afterwards.
  • Re‑oil once or twice a year with a natural furniture oil (Danish or tung oil).
  • Avoid silicone‑based polishes, abrasive pads, and placing hot items directly on the surface.

Linen, Bouclé & Natural Fabrics

Upholstery and cushions are made from European linen and OEKO‑TEX certified bouclé. These fibres are naturally hypoallergenic and become softer with age.

  • Vacuum gently with an upholstery attachment on low suction once a week.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth. Do not rub.
  • Professional dry clean only for large stains or full upholstery.
  • Avoid bleach, machine washing, and prolonged direct sunlight (which can fade the natural pigment).

Hand‑thrown Ceramics & Stoneware

Our vases, bowls, and sculptural objects are fired at high temperatures and left unglazed or finished with food‑safe matte glazes. Slight variations in shape and tone are signs of the artist's hand.

  • Hand wash only with mild soap and warm water.
  • Air dry thoroughly before storing or displaying.
  • Dust decorative ceramics with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Avoid dishwasher, microwave, and extreme temperature changes (which can cause cracking).

Brass & Unlacquered Metal

Our sculpted brass lamps and hardware are intentionally left unlacquered. Over time, brass develops a warm, living patina — a sign of honest material that we celebrate.

  • Dust regularly with a microfiber cloth.
  • To restore shine: gently rub with a brass polish or a paste of lemon juice and baking soda, then buff dry.
  • Embrace the patina — if you prefer a uniform aged look, simply leave the brass untouched.
  • Avoid abrasive metal cleaners, steel wool, and prolonged contact with water.

Natural Stone & Marble

Travertine, marble, and limestone are living stones — they breathe, age, and carry the marks of their formation. We seal our stone surfaces, but they still require gentle daily respect.

  • Wipe with a damp, soft cloth and a pH‑neutral cleaner.
  • Use coasters and trays to protect against acidic liquids (wine, citrus, vinegar).
  • Re‑seal annually with a penetrating stone sealer.
  • Avoid vinegar, bleach, ammonia, and scouring pads — they etch the surface permanently.

General Tips for All Pieces

  • Keep out of direct sunlight: prolonged UV exposure can fade natural pigments and dry out wood.
  • Maintain stable humidity: aim for 40–60%. Use a humidifier or dehumidifier as needed to prevent cracking.
  • Rotate objects: move vases, bowls, and cushions occasionally so they age evenly.
  • Embrace the marks: LuxeNest pieces are designed to age into your life. A small ring on a table or a softened linen corner is not damage — it's character.
